![]() When I finally got my next mattress, a firmer option from Brooklyn Bedding, I realized that I hadn’t slept well in an entire month. By the time I’d had it for about a month, I was looking forward to seeing it go. My experience with the Casper Original left a lot to be desired. The Casper Select sleeps cool and feels amazing. What’s it like to sleep on the Casper Original and Casper Select? I’m also not sure what it means when it comes to rotating your mattress-something that’s thought to promote even wear. That said, it’s tough to discern how much of this is marketing fluff as opposed to features that will make a difference in your sleep. However, every time I chat with the customer service desk about how the different levels of support are created, I can’t get a straight answer. The company says this design “ergonomically aligns” your spine. A PR spokesperson didn't point to specific cooling features, though the production description mentions that it's made with "breathable open-cell foam." Indeed, this mattress felt consistently cool in the weeks I spent sleeping on it-and that’s really saying something, seeing as I had it during two Northeast heat waves when overnight temperatures didn’t dip below the low 70s.Ĭasper claims both mattresses have “zoned support,” which basically means that different parts of the mattress provide more or less support to your body overnight. The Select is 12 inches tall and contains four layers of foam. However, in my experience, I wouldn’t say that it’s cooler than any of the other mattresses we’ve reviewed either. According to a PR spokesperson, the Original has cooling features that aim to prevent you from overheating at night. The Casper Original is made of three foam layers and measures 11 inches tall. The Casper Select had far more edge support than the Casper Original. What are the differences between the Casper Original and Casper Select? In other words, even if you need the biggest size available, it’s cheaper than the Original version's queen-which is the most popular and common mattress size in the U.S. The mattress starts at $549 for a full (Costco doesn’t carry a twin or twin XL), and goes up to $649 for a queen or $849 for a king or California king. Its price is seldom discounted-this is Costco, after all-but it’s already far cheaper than the Original. The Casper Select memory foam mattress is a well-deserved challenger to the Original. For instance, our favorite overall, the Tuft & Needle Original, is a fraction of the cost and far more supportive and comfortable on a whole. There are numerous mattresses in a box that rival its price and provide better comfort. It starts at $595 and goes up to nearly $1,100 for a queen size. ![]() Your kid spilling a table spoon of grape juice on the mattress that won’t come out voids a lot of the exchanges. In my humble opinion, the Casper Original is overpriced. Make sure to follow guidelines in case of the need for a comfort exchange. Follow the instructions on breaking the thing in, (walking on it, airing it out, etc). Purchase within your budget from a reputable company with a 3+ month trial period. Comfort is is like asking Reddit what kind of food you like, we can give suggestions but you could end up hating peanut butter on cheeseburgers. They think spending money equals “better.”Īs others have said. Some people might need something extra (more support and pressure relief in bedding terms), but the vast majority of the other 25% just want a Lexus for the sake of driving a Lexus. 75% of people will be great driving a Toyota Camry. OP: /u/recovering-skeptic buying mattresses is like buying a car. Please explain what makes them unique? (Hint: They aren’t) ![]() ![]() Lol what? Half the companies OP listed are newer than purple. Deciding what type of mattress you want should help a ton with identifying which mattress will be “most comfortable” for you. So no, not all mattresses are the same.there will be more similarity among mattresses of the same type, obviously (e.g., Casper, Nectar, and Tuft and Needle all-foam mattresses), but you will find some important distinctions between mattresses of different kinds (e.g., all-foam, coil mattresses, hybrids, and Purple). Purple has a unique feel, and hybrid beds have a different feel than all-foam beds. Dreamcloud is a hybrid mattress it utilizes some memory foam in its pillow-top, but it also incorporates coils into its construction. Purple uses a patented hyper elastic polymer that feels like a square-grid gel when you lay on it, and that’s the main feature of all Purple constructions. ![]() Purple and Dreamcloud, on the other hand, are not straight foam mattresses. Several of the companies you mentioned specialize in all-foam beds. Well, it’s best to decide what kind of feel you want first. ![]()
